004. Call people by name. Read the name badges of all those you do business with and who serve you. Even if it is small talk – the most beautiful music people hear is the sound of their own name.
I'm so guilty of not taking the effort to remember names. I tend to use the excuse, "I'm not good with names," but that's probably because I don't take the time to really remember names. Recently I've made a concerted effort to remember names and to use names when speaking to others.
That is a great thing to do Shawn. I've found that wearing a nametag everyday helps a lot! I feel more accountable (I guess) because I give people the cue so I've got to be on my toes that much more.
In either case, it helps to intentionally put yourself out there. Again, even if it simply calling cashiers or servers by their nametags. Good luck!
